World Asthma Day 2025: Make Inhaled Treatments Accessible for ALL

The PRAISE-HK team joined the Hong Kong Asthma Society's carnival event at Tsim Sha Tsui on May 4, 2025, aligning with this year's global theme "Make Inhaled Treatments Accessible for ALL." This worldwide initiative by the Global Initiative for Asthma (GINA) emphasizes the critical need to ensure universal access to essential inhaled medications for asthma control and treatment.

Our distinguished Prof. Alexis Lau participated as an officiating guest at the event, where he engaged with healthcare professionals dedicated to asthma care. During these valuable interactions, Prof. Lau shared insights about PRAISE-HK's evolution towards addressing comprehensive public health issues, with a particular focus on heat-related challenges.

Event Highlights:

Interactive Experience: Our booth featured an innovative electric circuit board game that drew significant attention from carnival attendees. Players navigated through various urban environments while learning about different air pollutants affecting city life.
Professional Exchange: The event provided an excellent platform for knowledge sharing between medical professionals and environmental health experts, highlighting the intersection between air quality and respiratory health.

This carnival comes at a crucial time when global statistics show that asthma affects over 260 million people worldwide and causes more than 450,000 deaths annually. Most of these deaths are preventable, particularly through proper access to inhaled treatments - a key message that resonates with GINA's 2025 theme.
