World Asthma Day is an annual event organized by the Global Initiative for Asthma (GINA) to improve asthma awareness and care around the world.
The Hong Kong Asthma Society, therefore, organized a carnival event at Tsim Sha Tsui themed "CARE for All" to raise awareness about asthma. Prof Alexis Lau, the principal investigator of PRAISE-HK, was the guest of honour; the team was also invited on stage for the opening ceremony.
The carnival attracted both local residents and tourists who visited the booths and participated in the activities. The atmosphere was lively and engaging. As part of the event, the PRAISE-HK team set up a game booth to help visitors learn more about the different types of air pollutants.
During the event, Prof Alexis Lau met with Mr Chan Wing Kai, Chairman of the Hong Kong Asthma Society, together with doctors specializing in respiratory-related diseases. The team showcased the newly developing feature on the PRAISE-HK app, which allows asthma patients to report their symptoms under the Asthma Control Test (ACT) for assessment. This feature is highly recommended for asthma patients, as it can help to improve their management of the condition and reduce the risk of asthma attacks.
We look forward to continuing to work with Hong Kong Asthma Society, offering solutions that might better someone's life.
